Crypto asset recovery in Cyprus
Stolen crypto? We trace it, and we tell you the truth.
Crypto asset recovery for victims of theft, fraud, and investment scams across Cyprus, Greece, and the EU. We trace stolen cryptocurrency across chains, identify where it was cashed out, and build the court-ready evidence your lawyer or the police need to freeze and reclaim it.
If the theft just happened, act today
Stolen funds are typically laundered within hours. Before anything else: stop sending money, move any remaining balance to a new wallet with a fresh seed phrase, and preserve every transaction hash, wallet address, screenshot, and message. Do not pay anyone who contacts you offering to recover your funds for an upfront fee — that is a second scam, and it is aimed specifically at people in your position.
Cases We Take
Most crypto loss falls into a handful of patterns. Each leaves a different trail, and each has a different realistic path to recovery.
Investment & trading platform fraud
A platform showed growing returns, then blocked withdrawals or demanded "tax" and "unlocking" fees. We trace the deposits from your wallet to the operator's infrastructure and identify where the value was cashed out.
Romance & social engineering scams
Transfers made over weeks or months to someone you trusted, often through a fake trading app. These leave a long, traceable trail — and frequently connect to a wider network of victims.
Wallet compromise & drainer attacks
A leaked seed phrase, a malicious signature, or a drainer contract emptied your wallet. We reconstruct exactly what was signed, follow the outflow, and identify the consolidation addresses.
Exchange hacks & insider theft
Funds moved out of a corporate or custodial wallet without authorisation. We work with your internal records to separate legitimate movement from theft and produce evidence for insurers and regulators.
Business email compromise
A payment was redirected to an attacker-controlled address after a spoofed invoice or hijacked email thread. Speed matters most here — these funds often move straight to an exchange.
Ransomware payments
Where a ransom was paid, tracing the payment supports insurance claims, sanctions screening, and law-enforcement referral — and occasionally identifies the operator cluster.
How Crypto Recovery Works
Recovery is an evidence exercise before it is a legal one. Funds come back when a trace can point a court or an exchange at a specific account.
Case intake & triage
You send us the addresses, transaction hashes, and background. We assess within a short window whether the trail is live enough to be worth pursuing — and say so plainly if it is not.
On-chain tracing
We follow the funds hop by hop across wallets, chains, bridges, and swaps, clustering addresses that belong to the same actor and separating the stolen value from unrelated flows.
Attribution & off-ramp identification
We identify where the funds came to rest: named exchanges, custodians, payment processors, or services with a real-world operator who can be served with a legal request.
Court-ready evidence report
You receive a documented report with a chain of custody, visual flow-of-funds maps, and a clear narrative your lawyer, the police, or a compliance team can act on directly.
Recovery support
We support the legal step that follows — freezing requests to exchanges, police referral, civil proceedings — and provide expert testimony where a case reaches a hearing.
What Makes Recovery Possible
We would rather turn a case away than take money for a trace that cannot go anywhere. Here is what actually separates the two outcomes.
Recovery is realistic when
- The funds reach a regulated exchange or custodian that responds to legal process
- You act quickly enough that a balance is still sitting there to freeze
- The counterparty is identifiable and within a cooperating jurisdiction
- The amounts justify civil proceedings or attract law-enforcement attention
- You have preserved the transaction hashes, addresses, and communications
Recovery is unlikely when
- Funds passed through a mixer or were converted to a privacy coin
- The trail ends in a jurisdiction that will not act on a foreign order
- Months have passed and the receiving accounts are long since emptied
- The loss was a market or protocol failure rather than a theft
Even then, a trace has value: it supports an insurance claim, a tax write-off, a police report, or a claim against a platform that failed its own controls.
Why Ondology Labs
Evidence built for court
Documented methodology and chain of custody, not a screenshot of a block explorer. Reports designed to survive challenge.
We work with your lawyer
Cyprus and Greece are our home jurisdictions. We hand your legal team something they can file, and testify if the case is heard.
Cross-chain, not chain-limited
We follow funds through bridges and swaps rather than stopping at a chain boundary — which is where most traces quietly end.
Crypto Recovery FAQ
Can stolen cryptocurrency actually be recovered?
Sometimes — and honestly, not always. Recovery is realistic when the stolen funds land somewhere with a legal owner we can reach: a centralised exchange, a custodian, a payment processor, or a counterparty inside a cooperating jurisdiction. In those cases tracing plus a freezing order can return funds. Recovery is unlikely when funds have been through a mixer, converted to a privacy coin, or moved to a jurisdiction that will not act. We tell you which situation you are in after the initial trace, before you commit to a full engagement.
How quickly do I need to act after crypto is stolen?
Immediately. Stolen funds are usually laundered within hours to days, and the realistic window for freezing them at an exchange is short. The single most valuable thing you can do is preserve evidence now — wallet addresses, transaction hashes, exchange account details, and every message from the people involved — and get a trace started. Older cases are still worth investigating, because on-chain records are permanent, but the probability of freezing a live balance drops sharply with time.
Do you guarantee recovery, or charge an upfront fee?
We never guarantee recovery — any firm that does is a red flag, and "recovery scams" that target victims a second time are common. We charge for defined investigative work: tracing, analysis, and a documented report you own. Whether funds come back depends on where they went and on the legal process that follows, and neither is something an investigator can promise in advance.
Do I need to report the theft to the police first?
You should report it, and in Cyprus that means the Cyprus Police Financial Crime Unit — but you do not need to wait for a police outcome before starting a trace. In practice a professional tracing report makes a police report substantially more actionable, because it converts "my crypto was stolen" into specific addresses, amounts, timestamps, and named exchanges that investigators and prosecutors can act on.
What information do you need from me to start?
At minimum: the wallet addresses involved, the transaction hashes of the outgoing transfers, the approximate dates and amounts, and which blockchain or blockchains were used. Anything else helps — exchange account statements, screenshots of the platform or person you dealt with, chat logs, emails, and the website or app you used. If you are missing some of this, we can often reconstruct it from the addresses alone.
Which blockchains and assets do you cover?
Bitcoin, Ethereum and the major EVM chains, and the other principal networks used to move stolen value, together with the stablecoins and tokens issued on them. We follow funds across bridges and swaps rather than stopping at a chain boundary, which is where many traces are abandoned.
Will your report hold up in court?
Yes — that is what it is built for. Our reports document methodology, maintain a chain of custody over the evidence, and present the flow of funds in a form a judge, arbitrator, or bank compliance officer can follow. We also provide expert testimony where a case reaches a hearing.
Do you work with clients outside Cyprus?
Yes. Blockchain evidence is not jurisdictional, so we trace for clients across the EU and beyond. Cyprus and Greece are where we are on the ground and best placed to support the local legal process directly, and elsewhere we work alongside your own lawyers.
